Tracy Fitzgerald
Tracy Fitzgerald graduated from Crawford College of Art and Design in 2012 with an Honours Degree in Fine Art (1:1). She is a recipient of the CCAD Postgraduate Studio Bursary and an OPW Purchase Price. Since graduating Tracy has become a member of the Backwater Artists Group and has participated in many group shows. Tracy's work is held in public and private collections.
She explains of her work "My interest lies in space and place. How attachments to home, neighbourhood and nation are formed. Architecture provides idealised environment. People inhabit this space, creating private spaces within. Architectural design is now a global business. The same interior stores can be found worldwide. How does this impact on our understanding of place.
"Source images gathered focus on the contradictions in everyday life, aspirational and actual, place and non-place, public and private. These are transformed through paint using
some unusual techniques, inviting the viewer to construct their own reality." Her work is featured in the Summer 2013 edition of Munster Interiors.
