Born in Co. Laois in 1978 Ruth Carbery studied in Grennan Mill Art & Craft School, Thomastown, Co. Kilkenny and graduated from Crawford College of Art & Design in 1999.

The sea and its surroundings, cliffs and fields are the focus of her work, inspired by the changing light, seasons and rugged landscapes of the Dingle Peninsula.

Turning a focused eye from vistas to analytical studies of the area's marine life, Ruth’s unique style combines detailed pencil sketches with rich colour. Her honest analytical studies of its exotic marine creatures are fast ensuring her reputation as a painter of great potential.
