Fiona Cawley
Fiona Cawley graduated with Distinction from Galway Mayo Institute of Technology in 2015 with a BA in Art & Design and is the recipient of a GMIT Academic Achievement Award.
"As a painter I am passionate about the physical act of paint application and the relationship between colours and gestural brush strokes often varying the application of thin and thick paint" she says of her work.
"These paintings are abstracted depictions spontaneously painted from memory and the imagination, inspired by my surroundings in Co Galway. I never know how a painting will look once finished. There is a theme of taking refuge in nature, escaping to the wild and an element of storytelling within a lot of my work and at times a hint of drama."
A member of Kinvara Area Visual Artists group, she exhibits regularly in the island of Ireland; her work forms part of many important collections. She is featured in From Land & Sea Ón Talamh & Ón bhFarraige April 2018 group show in Joan Clancy Gallery.
