Seachran Samhraidh a summer extravaganza of new paintings was opened in Joan Clancy Gallery, Mweelahorna, Ring, on Friday by John Deasy T.D.

It was a perfect June evening, the tide was in and the peninsula looked resplendent in the gold and rose sunshine. John was chuffed to be invited to open his first Art Exhibition. Earlier in the week he said he had performed similar honours at the Community Games with the suitable quip "Let the games begin!"

Featuring work by Rayleen Clancy, Danny Cunningham, Martin Quigley, Wishy Martin, Andrew O'Dwyer and John Cullinan, Seachrán Samhraidh is very impressive and well worth viewing. As the sun set behind the Knockmealdowns the sky was as dramatic as some of the paintings.
