Deirdre Dunne
Deirdre Dunne graduated from Crawford College of Art & Design with an Honours Degree in Fine Art Painting in 1993 and since then has cycled through Asia, Europe, the Middle East, Central America and worked in Australia and Africa where she continuously sketched and painted what she saw around her.
Now living back in Ireland, this extensive overseas travel has informed her work and her use of intense colour makes a special impact on the viewer.
"The fleeting effects of light and atmosphere are important to me. My preferred medium is oil on canvas and I work on a red ochre background to create rich tonal contrasts" she explains.
Deirdre exhibits at venues around Ireland and was selected by the RHA 1990–92. She recently had a dual exhibition with Leah Murphy in the Ballymaloe Grainstore in East Cork. Her work forms part of important collections worldwide.
