Joan Clancy Gallery to feature on Imeall arts and culture show on TG4
Press Release March 2012
Joan Clancy Gallery are proud to host Macalla a solo exhibition of new and recent works by Joanne Boyle. The show will feature on Imeall, TG4's arts and
culture programme on Thursday March 22nd.
Mentored by artist Sinead Ní Mhaonaigh, Imeall, directed by Maggie Breathnach for Red Shoe Productions, charts the development of work from its original concept
in Joanne Boyle's artist's studio in Dublin to Joan Clancy Gallery in An Rinn near Dungarvan in Co Waterford, where it opens for exhibition to the public on Friday
March 9th at 8pm. With music by Hugh O'Carroll, Ryland Teifi and Evan Grace from Mendocino the band, the evening promises to have the wow factor with camera, lights and action.
Joanne Boyle graduated from Dun Laoghaire IADT in 2009 with an Honours Degree in Visual Arts Practice and was chosen for the inaugural Studio & Mentorship Award by
Dun Laoghaire Rathdown Co Council. She exhibits in solo and group shows and in 2011 received An Artlinks Bursary and was selected to be part of an Artlinks Initiative
curated by Cliodhna Shaffrey.
Boyle's involved and tactile approach to materials, with its implications of cathartic release and metaphysical intensity, generates images that, packed and agitated as
they are, ultimately function as investigations into the sublime.
"We are delighted to have Maggie, Joanne, Sinead and the Imeall crew in Joan Clancy Gallery" says Joan Clancy, "Imeall focuses on the latest developments in the world of
creative and performing arts; Macalla will be open March 10, 11, 18 and 23rd from 11am – 5pm each day, and also by appointment."
