Féile na bPictiúr The Christmas Show In Joan Clancy Art Gallery

Blawnin Clancy, Joan Clancy And Rayleen ClancyFéile na bPictiúr the Christmas Show in Joan Clancy Gallery in the County Waterford Gaeltacht area of Ring is a spectacular exhibition with paintings from some of the premier artists practicing in Ireland today including Arthur K. Maderson, Katarzyna Gajewska, Sinéad Ní Chionaola, Blawnin Clancy, Rayleen Clancy, Michael Mulcahy and Suzy O'Mullane.

Féile na bPictiúr also boasts work by Andrea Jameson, one of those rare artists who paints in situ in oils, often mixing her own pigments in the tradition of the classical painters.

Rayleen Clancy breaks new ground in this show. Her chalk pastels are well composed and finely wrought and her restrained use of light is very effective.

Sinéad Ní Chionaola is, according to Sophie Gorman art critic from the Irish Independent "a seriously hot tip….you won't be throwing caution to the wind if you invest in a painting by her".

Blawnin Clancy's delicately worked paintings capture the tranquil essence of the Cunnigar, and invoke the natural environment of the beautiful beachscape.

Sandra Norris who graduated in Fine Art from Crawford College of Art & Design recently, has excellent pieces in the show and her use of pigment and light underlies a deep undercurrent of strength.

Wishy Martin's Last Light in oil on canvas, depicts the brilliant and riotous autumnal foliage one October evening recently.

Katarzyna Gajewska currently has a solo show The Battle Over Madam X in the Origin Gallery in Harcourt St., of whom Irvine Walsh (Train Spotting) said "Katarzyna's paintings are haunting and emotional, all the more visceral due to her methods of painting. The fact that she uses her hands gives the paintings an amazingly powerful primitive feel. The figures feel as if they are emerging or disappearing. They occupy a peripheral world like ghosts and this gives them a stunning intensity and power". Her work is stylish and engages the viewer in a beguiling manner.

John Cullinane, Mary Grehan, Eileen McGoldrick and Sheenagh B. Geoghegan, and Leah Murphy also have fine and interesting works in Féile na bPictiúr at Joan Clancy Gallery, in County Waterford's unique Gaeltacht gallery.

Well worth a drive to Joan Clancy Gallery, in Mweelahorna, Ring, between Coláiste na Rinne and the Cunnigar Beach overlooking Dungarvan Bay and the coastline of Co Waterford against the dramatic backdrop of the Comeragh and Knockmealdowns.
